Palmer is one of well known bull elephants of Amboseli. We pulled up close to him in our safari vehicle, and our guide told me to slowly get out of the vehicle, and sit on the ground next to it, so that my camera angle captured him from below and gave a better sense of Palmer’s size, framed against the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the distance. Palmer was only 10 meters in front of us, peacefully munching on the lush tall grass, and we just all sat transfixed listening to the sounds of him pulling up the grass and chomping on it. It was an unforgettable moment, we felt small in comparison, but blessed to just enjoy Palmer’s company.
